Kayaking

We were in Morro Bay last weekend and the boys went kayaking. This was Tyler's first time, except for the blisters that he got, I think he enjoyed it.

Storm

We had our first storm at our new house. What I love about this house, it is on top of a hill, so you can see the storm coming. The down pour started at 4:00 am on Saturday morning and went all day. We had thunder and lighting, one of our favorite things to watch. Here are a few pictures in the afternoon as the storm keeps coming.

Family Night

As we unpacked, we came across some games and puzzles that everyone said they would like to do, so our first endeavor was putting this puzzle together. It probably take us a week to finish it, if we are lucky. So far its been allot of fun doing this together. Even the kids seem to enjoy it, and its not even a video game. WOW!

Unpacked!

I don't know if I'm really all unpacked, but I'm going through the boxes I didn't know what to do with the first go around. Tyler seems to like his new school, but of course he will never admit to it. Ryan is looking for a job. He has his first interview on Monday. He plans on attending College of the Canyon next semester. Steve seems to really like his job, never a dull moment when you have over 20 stores to supervise. I really like working from home. It's amazing how much work you can get done when people aren't coming around your desk. I will have pictures of the house, as soon as I can find my battery charger. Agua Dulce Winery is just 20 minutes from our house and the wine is pretty good. So when you come to visit, guess where we are taking you.

Clint & Stephany's Wedding

Move Update

The movers will be here on August 19, to pick up and move our junk. When you bring stuff down from the attic, that is when you start saying JUNK, and we have tons of it.

We finally found a house in the Castaic area, just 10 minutes from Magic Mountain. It was crazy trying to find a place to rent when everyone is doing the same thing, just before school starts. Tyler will be starting school this Thursday at Valencia High School. Both boys are down there until I get everything moved. Steve gets lucky and is heading back East for a Trade Show Conference this Friday and doesn't return until next Thursday. What perfect timing on his part! So of course I called "Mommie" and she will be here to hold my hand or help me clean....lol

I'm hoping only 1 more week of craziness and then we will be settling down. Family and friends are always welcome to come and stay if they want to go to Magic Mountain or just visit.

Moving

Well, it's official we are moving to the Santa Clarita area. We will be renting our home, so if you know of anyone that would like a 4 bedroom/2 bath, please let me know. We are excited about the move, all of us except Tyler. I know a lot of work is in store, but I'm just ready for everything to fall into place and move. I will keep you posted.

Brother's

They fight, they get on each other's nerves, but no matter what they say, they are glad to be brother's. I'm so proud of both of them.

Tyler's 8th Grade Graduation

You think you can pick your own kid out of a crowd. You would think that when you say, there he is across the stadium, that at least one out of 6 people your with, that one person would say, "NO that isn't him". Don't take 10 pictures of some kid just because he has the same blue shirt as your kid does. But no, that didn't happen. We took pictures of some kid walking on to the football stadium. And when he got up, we got so excited to hear his name. But they didn't say it. We all looked at each other, thinking that the teacher screwed up. I was ready to give his teacher a piece of my mind. Could we have made a mistake??? And then we saw him, on the same side that we were sitting on, the side that kids walked right in front of us on. He had waived to us when he walked in front of us. But he said he knew we didn't see him, we where watching the other blue shirt. Luckily, we had time to get the camera out so we could take a few pictures of the RIGHT KID.

Notice the blue shirt.

When we finally found the right kid.

Next time he is wearing pink, so we know its him.

Congratulations Tyler!

8th Grade Dance

Tyler went to his first dance tonight. Of course, we find out the night before that he needs dress slacks and a dress shirt, which he doesn't have. Luckily, he was able to fit into Ryan's clothes. Which I was very thankful for. When he got all dressed up, he didn't look like my youngest son, but a handsome young man. How they turn into men overnight.
Tyler said he had a great time and danced some fast and slow songs. I just remember the days when all the boys stood against the wall and all the girls danced with each other. I guess times have changed.

It's all about looking cool!

Watch out John Travolta!

What cuties.

Carrie Underwood and Josh Turner

I went to see Carrie Underwood and Josh Turner last night. This was the first time that I have seen either one of them and they where fantastic. Josh Turner has that deep sexy voice and smile that makes you say, WOW.
Carrie Underwood is a beautiful and a amazing singer. She can belt out a song like you can't believe. I don't think there is anything that she can't sing. The only thing that I can't get use to at a concert, is when they do an encore and everyone holds up their cell phone. What happened to the good old bic lighter? Talk about feeling old. I guess it could be worse, I could remember when the held up matches.

Ryan's Senior Picture

After about 400 pictures we picked this one to be Ryan's official senior picture. Of course, he thinks he looked great in all of them, but personally I love the smile in this one.

Coastal Beauty

It is amazing how beautiful the flowers are when you go to the Coast. We were in Morro Bay last weekend for our family reunion and I couldn't pass up taking pictures of these wonderful flowers. I think the colors are just amazing. Like most pictures, its even more beautiful in person.

Senior Pictures -Behind the Scene

A friend of mine took Ryan's senior pictures on Sunday. I took some behind the scene pitures. It's kind of funny what you don't see in the pictures.

Ryan sitting on tool box.

Ryan remembered socks, but one was black and one was blue. Luckly, no shots showed his shoes.

It's hard to look this good!

Cellar Tracker

Cellar Tracker is a great way of keeping track of your wine bottles. I have entered all of my wine that I have and it's kind of scary on how many bottles you accumulate without realizing it. I think it might be time for another wine party. Even if you are just starting out drinking wine, this is a good place to note the wine and what you thought of it. I know my memory sucks, so this really helps. You also get other peoples comments and when you should drink it, it's not always the day you buy it. The only draw back is that you can list the price of the wine, sometimes you don't want to know how much you have spent on this little habit.

Wild Women on Wine

I just joined Wild Women on Wine and the men that love them or drive them. How cool is that? How many groups can you belong to that you meet great people, help people and drink wine? I knew this was going to be a perfect match for me. I went to my first meeting last night and everyone seemed so nice. So I volunteered to help serve the Area Football Team on Wednesday at Milla Vineyards, it should be fun. But you know I'm only doing this to have something to write about on my blog.

Paso Robles Wine Tasting

I went wine tasting with my DH and friend Kathy to Paso Robles this weekend. Our main mission was to pick up wine from Turley Winery, but of course, we had to make a few more stops on the way. We picked up some sandwiches headed out to 'The Far Out Wineries'. Well, they aren't kidding when they say that. The drive is beautiful, wild flowers all over and shade trees lining both sides of the road, just making you wish you had a convertible. Our first stops were at Norman and Whalebone Wineries, not bad wines, but nothing that I had to have. Whalebone had the cutest dogs and pretty much the only pictures I took that day. But you can see why.

Then we went to Nadeau and had lunch and Wow, what great wines there. Had to get a bottle of their Critical Mass 2005 Zinfandel and Westside 2005 Zinfandel. I thought I had found the jack pot, until we went to Pipestone. When we tried their 2004 Zinfandel, we couldn't believe it, fantastic. My friend Kathy doesn't even like red wine and she had to have a bottle. It seems like whenever we find a great wine 2004 is the year. Yes, you two I will share.

Nashville

I thought I would share some of my pictures from my Nashville trip, that my Mom and I took last October. My Mom wanted to visit two relatives in Munfordville, KY, that we think are related to us. Let me back up about 14 years ago. I was into my family history and came across Becky and Amy Rowlett, my Mom's side of the family. I started to send them letters and with all of our documents we are still not sure how we are related, but know and hope that we are. My Mom and her friend Alice were in Munfordville about 10 years ago and meet both Amy and Becky and just loved them. My Mom had been wanting to go back and visit them again and said to me, "I will pay for your way, if you want to go with me". That is all she had to say and off to Nashville we went. We flew into Nashville and headed up to Munfordville the next day. Becky and Amy were the nicest ladies, it felt like we had known them for years. Becky is 93 and I'm not sure how old Amy is, but they both still like to go places, even though they don't get around as well as the use to. They showed barns that were drying tobacco. Never saw that before, pretty cool. We went to Lincoln birthplace and Mammoth Caves. But I have to say my favorite thing to see while were were there, were the Amish people. We drove by areas that a lot of them live in and it was so cool. I know that sounds stupid, but it is so neat to see people that live such a different way then we do. I thought they wouldn't be very friendly, but I was wrong. As we drove slowly by their horse and buggy, they would smile and wave. I wish I could have taken pictures, but there religion forbids it.

Wedding!!!!

My DH's oldest nephew will be getting married July 19 in Tahoe and I can't wait. Clint is such a great guy, always so polite and fun to be around. We don't get to see him much, but when we do we always have a great time. I had such a blast with Clint at Jennifer's wedding, that I can't wait to go to his and Stephany's. Congratulations, to the both of you.

Wine

We belong to the Tobin James Wine Club. I have been a member of a few clubs over the years, and Tobin is one of the best values for the price of the wine club. We had this RRV Zinfadel bottle a few weeks ago and man was it good. This was one of the bottle from the club and I would buy it again. So if your ever at Tobin James, you might want to try this one.

Spring Time

I got a new camera this weekend, so what better pictures to take, then my DH doing things around the house. We had two old planters that DH thought would make great benches.
So the first thing he did was fit the boards to the top of the planter boxes.
Then he put the material on that I picked. I didn't like it as much as I thought, but it will do for now. I want something a little brighter.
I think he did a really good job. I have to come up with more things he can do, so I can take more pictures.
